Welcome to the READ-16-ME
READ stands for Reliable Emotional Action Decoding.
The READ test measures how well individuals are able to quickly and reliably recognize emotions in the form of so-called microexpressions. This ability supports clear and empathetic communication in everyday life – both in private and professional contexts.
In the following test, you will see 16 images showing different facial expressions. The displayed expressions are based on photorealistic, computer-generated images that were created specifically for this test. This method allows for a highly precise and consistent representation of facial movements and emotions.
Each image will be displayed for a very short time (100 milliseconds). Afterward, please select the emotion that best matches your perception. You can choose from eight emotions: fear, surprise, anger, disgust, contempt, sadness, joy, and social smile. A social smile is a smile shown out of politeness, without genuine feelings of joy.
Please respond promptly, as the test also measures how quickly facial expressions are perceived. The test takes approximately 3 to 5 minutes to complete. Please ensure that you will not be interrupted during this time.
We wish you a calm and focused test experience.
Kind regards,
The Eilert Academy Team
